Leena Chandavarkar took the stage after finishing as a finalist in the Fresh Face contest organized by Filmfare across the country. At first she was working in commercials, but she finally ventured into movies . She made her debut in Man Ka Meet for Sunil Dutt, and his wife Nargis prepared her to become an actress. Between 1969 and 1979, Leena played in numerous films. She was thrown in front of many popular heroes of that time. She gave one of her best performances in Mehboob Ki Mehndi with Rajesh Khanna in 1971.
Bairaag is another example where she played with the big screen legend Dilip Kumar and a powerful star cast of Saira Bano, Prem Chopra and Helen.
She appeared as a guest judge for the first two episodes of "K for Kishore", a new reality TV singing show launched by Sony TV in December 2007. It now appears for reality shows. She also wrote some songs for Amit Kumar and Rajesh Bambal for a music album.
