Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan  credited as Salman Khan  is an Indian film actor, producer, singer and television personality. In a film career spanning almost thirty years, Khan has received numerous awards, including two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards.He has many followers in Asia and the Indian diaspora around the world and is quoted in the media as one of the most successful actors in Indian cinema.

Khan is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Sushila Charak. His paternal ancestors were the Pashtuns of present-day Afghanistan who immigrated to Indore, Madhya Pradesh in the mid-1800s. His grandfather Abdul Rashid Khan was an inspector Deputy General of the State of Indore who was awarded the Diler Jung Prize of the Holkar era. Khan's mother is a Maharashtrian,whose father Baldev Singh Charak comes from Jammu-Kashmir  and whose mother comes from Maharashtra. Khan's mother-in-law is Helen, a former actress. He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan; and two sisters, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, who is married to actor / director Atul Agnihotri, and an adoptive sister Arpita.

Career

Maine Pyar Kiya was later nicknamed in English When Love Calls, a 125-minute version, which was the biggest hit on the Caribbean market in Guyana and also dominated box office takings in Trinidad and Tobago . Maine Pyar Kiya had also been baptized in Spanish as Te Amo, the first experience of its kind.

This 125-minute film also proved its universal appeal with a glorious 10-week premiere in Lima, Peru's capital. In Telugu, like Prema Paavuraalu, he spent 25 weeks in Visakhapatnam and had a race lasting more than 100 days in six centers in Andhra Pradesh. He was also dubbed into Tamil as Kaadhal Oru Kavithai and Malayalam as Ina.

2009 marks an important turning point in Khan's career. First of all, Wanted, directed by the choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva, became a box office success and achieved superhit status.

In the same year, he appeared in two other films, Main Aurr Ms. Khanna and London Dreams. London Dreams did average business because of the uninspiring music, but Main Aurr Ms. Khanna was a commercial failure. Khan's first release in 2010 was Anil Sharma's film, which failed commercially and critically.

His next album, Dabangg, will be released on September 10, 2010 at Eid. Khan plays the role of a fearless cop with a comic effect in the film. He opened to generally positive reviews and broke several box office records after his release. The film broke a new box office record, earning GBP 808.7 million in the first week, becoming Bollywood's highest opening week, surpassing the previous record of 3 Idiots. Dabangg has grown to 2.15 billion pounds worldwide.

It was the Bollywood film that brought in the most revenue in 2010 and, in 2012, the fourth most successful Bollywood film of all time. Dabangg has won several awards, including the National Award for Best Popular Film for Healthy Entertainment. It was later redone in Tamil and Telugu, the film was produced by his brother Arbaaz Khan, and was released on September 10, 2010.

In June 2017, Khan appeared in Tubelight, his third collaboration with Kabir Khan after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. This film also featured Khan's real brother, Sohail Khan. Despite its high expectations, the film failed to maintain a good performance at the box office.

Khan's second release of 2017 Tiger Zinda Hai, a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger has grossed 190 crore worldwide in its opening weekend.As of January 23, 2018, the film reported 552 crore  worldwide, including 427.67 crore  in India  and 122.98 crore  abroad.

Khan starrer Kick 2 will be released at Christmas 2019 After the song Hoon Hero Hero Tera, Khan will again sing a romantic song for Yamla Pagla Deewana 3 with Lulia Vantur.

In 2011, he launched his own production company, called SKBH Productions . The money generated by the film productions will be donated to the Being Human organization. The first film produced under the banner was the children's animator Chillar Party, which won 3 national awards for best children's film, Best Original Screenplay and Child Artist Award.The next film of SKBH Productions will be Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho, a remake directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.
