He was born on 9 August 1975 in Chennai (then Madras) to actor Krishna and Indira Devi. The family originally comes from Burripalem in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He first appeared on screen as a child in his father’s films and later took the lead in Rajakumarudu (1999).
