|Bhumi Pednekar is an Indian actress. After working as a casting executive assistant at Yash Raj Films for six years, Pednekar made her acting debut with the lead role of an overweight wife in the 2015 Dum Laga comedy romantic comedy Ke Haisha. Her performance was acclaimed and she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Beginning.
Pednekar gained prominence in 2017 by playing stubborn women in two commercially successful hit comedies, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The latter earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

|Pednekar played Sandhya Varma, an obese girl in her first film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, against Ayushmann Khurrana in 2015. As reported by Daily News and Analysis, she reportedly said that to play the role of a woman in overweight, she gained nearly 12 kg, despite being overweight before the start of the shootings.
It is also reported that Pednekar has signed a contract for three films with Yash Raj Films. Rajeev Masand wrote in his critics: "Pednekar steals the film with a confident turn, effortlessly to take care of Sandhya, without ever reducing it to a caricatured, self-pitying caricature." After filming, she begins to lose weight and shares methodological tips and tricks through her social media.She lost a lot of weight before the release of the movie. The film proved to be a hit and Pednekar won the Filmfare Award for best female debut for the film.
