| Katrina Kaif is an English actress who works in Hindi films. Although she has received mixed criticism from critics for her prowess, she has settled in Bollywood and is one of India's best-paid actresses.Born in Hong Kong, Kaif and her family have lived in several countries before moving to London. She received her first modeling job as a teenager and then went on to a modeling career. Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong with the family name of her mother, Turquotte (also spelled Turcotte), on July 16, 1983. According to the actress, her father (Mohammed Kaif ) is a British businessman of Indian descent from Kashmir, and his mother (Susanna, also spelled Susanna) is an English lawyer and charity worker.
At the age of fourteen, Kaif won a beauty pageant in Hawaii and received her first modeling job in a jewelery campaign. She subsequently professionally modeled in London, working for independent agencies and appearing regularly at London Fashion Week.In a fashion show, Kaif caught the attention of London-based director Kaizad Gustad. In 2005, Kaif briefly appeared as Abhishek Bachchan's girlfriend in Ram Gopal Varma's political thriller Sarkar [34]. She then performed with Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Sohail Khan in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya ?, a film she considered her "first real step in Bollywood". Directed by David Dhawan, the film was a successful remake of the romantic comedy Cactus Flower.For her role as a suicidal model, Kaif received the Stardust Award for outstanding performance - Woman. According to Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com, "Disney's charm of Katrina adds to her adorable screen" . Kaif followed with a small role in her second Telugu film, Allari Pidugu.
