After completing her studies, Puri began her career writing and acting, her first piece being Quasar Thakore Padamsee's English play, Retellings View From The Stage . For a year, she did copywriting for the advertising agency Ogilvy with freelance for lifestyle magazine. After having her portfolio made by Dilip Bhatia, she began auditioning for movies and commercials. Soon, she made her first commercial for Kotex and later in commercials and television commercials for several brands, including People First, Garnier and L'Oreal.
His performance has been described by critics as "comforting" (The Times of India), a "real surprise" (Press Trust of India) and "steals the film" (Rajeev Masand, CNN-IBN).In 2012, she appeared in Blood Money as a female Aarzu leader. When it was released, the film and its performance received positive reviews from critics and a good response from the audience. It was above the coarser average making it the second critical and commercial success of Puri.
In 2013, she appeared in Kai Po Che! as a woman leader Vidhya Bhatt. His character was Ishaan's sister (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Rajkummar Rao's love, then his wife. The film was based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, The 3 Mistakes of My Life.
