She was born in Jodhpur and grew up in the state capital of Jaipur. She graduated from Maharani Girls College from there. She is married to Arun Bajpai, a merchant navy officer. His brothers Piyush Pandey and Prasoon Pandey advertise. Arun also has two sisters, Rama Pandey is a BBC reporter and a news reader DD and Tripti Pandeyis a cultural activist and tourism expert.
