Sushmita Sen Shares a Throwback Picture With Ricky Martin, Raises a Toast to His Happiness Former Miss Universe and actor Sushmita Sen recently shared a photo back with popular singer-actor Ricky Martin. The photo was taken almost 22 years ago when Sushmita won the contest and toured the world. Martin was also on tour at the time. She is an Indian actress and model who was crowned Femina Miss India in 1994 and won Miss Universe 1994 at the age of 18. She is the first Indian to win the competition and has since primarily worked in Hindi films. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the comedy film Biwi No.1 in 1999. She  was also nominated in the category for her roles in Sirf Tum in 1999 and Filhaal... in 2002. Her commercially successful films include Aankhen in 2002, Main Hoon Na in 2004, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? in 2005. She ranked third overall in the preliminaries, behind Miss Colombia Carolina Gómez and Miss Venezuela Minorka Mercado. She  went on to place second, fifth and third in the subsequent rounds and finally won the title and crown of Miss Universe 1994. She was the first Indian to win the title. The latter earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
