|Twinkle Khanna is an Indian author , newspaper columnist, film producer, former film actor and interior designer. Her first book, Mrs. Funnybones, sold more than one hundred thousand copies, making her the best-selling female writer in India in 2015. She reiterated the success with her second book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad , which also sold more than 100,000 copies in August 2017. She won the 2016 Crossword Book Award for Mrs. Funnybones. Salaam Noni Appa, a story from the anthology has been adapted in a play directed by Lillette Dubey.She is the wife of actor Akshay Kumar.
She won the Outlook Award in 2016 for the most inspiring woman of the year. Khanna has been invited to participate in an eminent panel at the United Nations in New York on the occasion of Women's Entrepreneurship Day. She has also received many praise, some being Hello! The visionary woman of the year from India magazine as well as the Vogue opinion creator of the year.

|Khanna debuted on screen with Bobby Deol in Barsaat's romance by Rajkumar Santoshi (1995). It was launched by Dharmendra and before the film's release, Khanna signed two other projects . She performed well at the box office and became the sixth most profitable film of the year, and she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Achievement . The following year, she starred in Raj Kanwar's action movie, Jaan, and in Lawrence D'Souza's novel, Dil Tera Diwana, alongside Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan respectively. K.N. Vijiyan of the New Straits Times wrote that "Khanna does not look like a typical Hindi actress". While reviewing Dil Tera Diwana, Vijiyan wrote about Khanna: "Unlike her previous films, she looks great in all her scenes and she can do well.
In October 1999, with Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh and Salman Khan, she performed at the Awesome Foursome concert at Shah Alam Outdoor Stadium in Malaysia. Chal Mere Bhai (2000) starred her alongside a lead role in the comedy Joru Ka Ghulam, opposite Govinda. She has also appeared in David Dhawan's comedy Jodi No.1 (2001). His play in the film met with bad reviews. Director Karan Johar admitted in an interview that Khanna was in her mind for the role of Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, but she refused and Rani Mukerji was signed. She left the industry after her marriage to Kumar in 2001, claiming that she was no longer an actress. His latest film was Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001), a remake of the movie Telugu Money (1993). She opposed him to Fardeen Khan and was on average at the box office.
