Simran debuted in 1995 in the film Hindi Sanam Harjai, directed by Saawan Kumar. It was the first Indian film to be shot in New Zealand and Simran spent three months abroad, although the film was a box office disaster. Jaya Bachchan saw Simran present the Superhit Muqabla show on the Doordarshan Metro channel and then gave him a lead role in his production, the romantic drama Tere Mere Sapne (1996). She then starred in supporting roles for Muqaddar, Angaara and Daadagiri; Bal Bramhachari, Agni Morcha, Gunda Gardi against Aditya Pancholi, Ayub Khan and Dharmendra. During that time, she played in South Indian languages and was a big star in Tamil and Telugu cinema.
Simran made a comeback in 2008 with Okka Magadu, alongside Balakrishna, John Appa Rao 40 plus and Seval. Her role in Vaaranam Aayiram of Gautham Menon was hailed by critics and she won the Filmfare and Vijay awards for the same. She performed in Tamil films TN-07 AL 4777 and Ainthaam Padai in 2009. She made a brief appearance in Aaha Kalyanam in 2014 and Trisha Illana Nayanthara in 2015. In October 2015, Simran and her husband created a production studio called Simran & Sons and have launched two new film projects.
After her marriage, Simran takes a break from the movies and goes to the small screen where she plays in the Jaya TV soap opera, Simran Thirai. , Raaghav, Saakshi Siva and Abitha play supportive roles.
