Sarika began his film career at the age of 5 as a child actor , playing the role of a boy, Master Sooraj, in the 1960s in Bollywood. Her most remarkable and most popular aspect as a child artist was the year 1967 in the musical superhit Hamraaz, where she was seen as Vimi's daughter named baby / saarika. She has appeared in many children's movies. Later, she went to the movies with Rajshri Productions Geet Gaata Chal with Sachin, with whom she played in many Hindi and Marathi films.
In her acting career, she was often considered a "westernized girl" in the movies because of her non-Indian appearance. She gave birth to a girl, Shruti Hassan, in 1986. She gave up her acting career after marrying Kamal Haasan and moved to Chennai with him at the height of her career. After the separation, she made her comeback in Hindi movies. She played the role of Sheetal Thadani in the movie Bheja Fry (2006), where she played the wife of Rajat Kapoor. She also played a small but important role in Manorama Six Feet Under. Her latest film is Shoebite, which has been delayed for production, where she plays the opposite role to Amitabh Bachchan.She made her television debut in Sony Yudh TV starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.
