|Parvee Babi's model career began in 1972 and was soon followed by his film debut with the movie Charitra (1973), in front of cricket player Salim Durani.The film was a resounding failure, but Parveen was noticed and was taken for several other films. His first major success was Majboor (1974), against Amitabh Bachchan. With Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi helped change the image of the heroine of Indian film. She was the first Bollywood star to appear on the front page of Time in July 1976, much to the surprise of her contemporaries.
Throughout her career, she was more seen as a glamorous heroine than a serious actress. She was also known as a fashion icon. Famous designer Manish Malhotra said, "Parveen Babi has put minimalism in fashion and has always been impeccable, not even once."
She often appeared in popular songs that became the craze of younger generations and such song imaginations involved glamorous costumes and delightful film sets. in Namak Halaal, "Pyaar Karne Waale" in Shaan and "Maara Thumka" in Kranti, and this popularity made it among the highest paid actresses in Bollywood at that time. It would appear on the front page of every film magazine, be it Filmfare, The Stardust, Bombay Dyeing or even the prestigious Time.
