She is an Indian actress who has worked in the Tamil film industry. She is noted for her work in films including Balle Vellaiyathevaa (2016), Brindavanam (2017) and Karuppan (2017). She auditioned successfully for a film that will be directed by Mysskin in early 2016 and was opposed to another debut actor, Maitreya, in the lead role. Mysskin asked her to change her stage name from Abbirami to Tanya for her acting career, with which she agreed. The film was later postponed to allow Mysskin to complete production of Thupparivaalan (2017). Having learned that Tanya had been selected for a Mysskin film, director Radha Mohan chose to take a screen test and then appear on Brindavanam (2017) in August 2016.

Career

Actor Ravichandran's granddaughter, Tanya had been interested in a film career from an early age after seeing the work of her grandfather. His mother, Lavanya Sriram, is a classical dancer and therefore trained Tanya and her sister Apparajitha in Bharathanatyam, and they regularly participated in recitals in Chennai during their teenage years. Prior to entering the film industry, she obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women in Chennai and pursued a master's degree at the Madras School of Social Work.
