|Dulquer Salmaan is an Indian actor who appears mainly in Malayalam films. Referred sometimes as "DQ", he is the son of the actor Mammootty. Salmaan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Purdue University, and worked as a business director before pursuing a career in acting. Salmaan married architect Amal Sufiya in 2011 with whom he has a daughter. Cited in the media as one of India's most attractive celebrities, Salmaan has also been recognized for her fashion style.
Dulquer Salmaan was born on July 28, 1984 in Kochi, Kerala, India. Salmaan is the second child of actor Mammootty and his wife Sulfath. He has an elder sister, Surumi. He graduated from Sishya School in Chennai. He then moved to the United States and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from Purdue University. After graduation, he worked in the United States and later did a I.T. related business in Dubai. He later decided to pursue an acting career and followed a three-month course at the Barry John Acting studio in Mumbai. He stated in an interview in 2012 that he chose the game because "... somewhere in the hallway, my life has become monotonous and routine"

|In 2011, Salmaan signed for Srinath Rajendran's Second Show , in which he played the role of Harilal, a gangster. When asked in an interview about his "unconventional entry with a group of newcomers", Salmaan said it was his conscious decision because he thought "... when an actor makes his debut he must deserve the right to be a hero and not go through a shortcut route. " The film received mixed reviews. A Sify reviewer said, "... it's Salmaan's astonishing on-screen presence and mature playing style that makes the movie an endearing show," while Rediff's Paresh C Palicha criticized his performance.
"It can not be denied that he looks dapper and has an attractive baritone but that does not translate into good performance or acting." The film was commercially successful and earned him the Best Male Filmfare Award.
Salmaan starred in Anwar Rasheed's Ustad Hotel. The film, which received the National Award for Best Popular Film providing healthy entertainment, was also a major box office success. He also won praise for his portrait of Faizy. Anil R Nair, writing for The New Indian Express, said, "The young and glamorous Dulquer came out of his father's shadow in the role of Faisi."
For her performance, Salmaan received her first nomination for the Filmfare Award Best Actor. His third film was Theevram, a crime thriller directed by Roopesh Peethambaran. The film, released in November 2012, received mixed reviews and was a box office failure.
In 2013, he participated in the comedy drama ABCD Martin Prakkat: American-Born Confused Desi in which he made his debut with Johnny Mone Johnny. The song and the movie have become popular. Although the film received mixed reviews, its performance was well received by critics. Sify said, "This is Dulquer Salmaan's show all the way and in all fairness, the young actor has given his heart and soul in his character."
