| Anju Mahendru is an Indian actress.She is best known as Neelam at Kohi Apna Sa and Kamini Gupta at Kasautii Zindagii Kay.Mahendru has a long-standing relationship with the actor Rajesh Khanna from 1966 to 1972. Khanna's mother wanted Khanna to get married soon, because he is 27 years old and became very popular in 1969, but when Khanna proposed Anju in 1971 she said she wanted to postpone her marriage as she wanted to make a career as an actress. Career
| Mahendru began modeling at the age of 13. It was discovered by the poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi who recommended it to Basu Bhattacharya. Basu founded it at Uski Kahani in 1966. Uski Kahani was Mahendru's first film and Basu Bhattacharya's first production. She then starred in films such as Jewel Thief, Bandhan and Dastak. She never did as a prominent woman and moved to character roles. She also appeared in Nari Hira's television movies starring Aditya Pancholi in the mid-1980s. She made a comeback in the 1990s on television acting in various soaps. She played Trishna's stepmother in the television series Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah on Zee TV. She acted as Maan's daadi in Geet Hui Sabse Parayi. she also played the role of Jeevika, Maanvi, and Daboo daadi in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. She is considered Sujatha in Star Plus' Ye Hai Mohabbatein. Currently she is considered Gayatri Singh, the grandmother of the female chef, Anami, in Rishton Ka Chakravyuh on Star Plus. Tags:
