Mohamaad Ghibran is an Indian composer. He has composed music for Indian movies, commercials and commercial television jingles in various languages.


Ghibran was born and raised in Coimbatore. When he was in the tenth year, his family moved to Chennai after his father suffered a serious loss in business. He had to interrupt his studies and do several jobs to support his family.

Ghibran said he had developed an interest in music after watching Yanni play on television, when he was about eight or ten years old. He had enrolled in a music college, but had to give up and instead attended keyboard lessons and learned part time keyboard from Paul Augustine. He completed the RSA Grade 8 in piano and music theory by Trinity College in London and earned a degree in classical composition and scoring under the direction of Australian composer Lindsay Vickery at the LASALLE College of Arts in Singapore. He received an offer from a studio that composed music for animations as an in-house composer, and worked there for two years. In 2000, he created his own studio and, over the next six years, composed over 700 commercials.

Ghibran then joined a university in Singapore. In Singapore, he worked part-time by composing music for media houses to cope with his expenses. After completing his work, he worked for the Singapore Wood and Percussion Orchestra [who?]. He then returned to India, but could not find many advertisements to work at.


The director A. Sarkunam chose Ghibran to compose the soundtrack of Vaagai Sooda Vaa. N Venkateswaran of the Times of India wrote on the soundtrack, "M Ghibran joins the list of early composers who have impressed with their work lately. The music score complements the film, and brand it out as a musician to watch ". Malathi Rangarajan of The Hindu wrote that "music is another highlight. Mr. Gibran's numbers ring in your ears long after you leave the cinema." Rajagopalan Badrinarayanan of wrote "Vaagai Sooda Vaa is a healthy package with wonderful songs. his first film Gibran did an excellent job with the musical score. The album will certainly rework the current map. "Ghibran said that after Vaagai Sooda Vaa and that he was then approached by several directors on other projects , but he decided to take a break to look for a script based on the city.

In 2013, Ghibran composed music for the films Vatthikuchi, Kutti Puli and Naiyaandi. His releases in 2014 were Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah and Amara Kaaviyam. He also had his first version of Telugu Run Run Raja. According to, his work in the film "sparked a great appreciation from the fans" and the songs were "in the charts for a long time". He was offered soundtrack work for Vishwaroopam II by Kamal Haasan, as well as his next two projects, Uttama Villain and Papanasam, the Tamish remake of Drishyam.

Ghibran currently commutes between Chennai, Mumbai and Singapore for all his recording works, and has a studio in Chennai.

Private life

Ghibran is married to a Telugu woman from Vijayawada, a scientist, whom he met in Singapore . Ghibran's first child, a son was born on 18 December 2014.  His older brother AG Amid is a director.
