Sonu Nigam  is an Indian singer, live performer, host and actor.He sings in Hindi and Kannada films. He has also sung in Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Tulou, Assamese, Odia, Nepali, Maithili and various Indian languages. Nigam has also published Indian pop albums and has appeared in a number of films

Sonu Agam Kumar Nigam was born on July 30, 1973 in Agam Kumar Nigam and Shobha Nigam, in the city of Faridabad, Haryana. Her sister Teesha Nigam is also a professional singer. Nigam began his singing career at the age of four, when he joined his father Agam Kumar Nigam on stage to sing Mohammed Rafi's song "Kya Hua Tera Wada". From then on, Nigam accompanied his father on his singing appearances at weddings and parties. He moved to Mumbai with his father to begin his Bollywood singing career at the age of 18.He was trained by Hindustani classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

Career

He recorded romantic, rock, sad, devotional, ghazal and patriotic songs. He has sung in: Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Chhattisgarhi, English, Kannada, Maithili, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Tulu and Urdu to date.

Nigam has published pop albums in Hindi, Kannada, Odia, Chhattisgarhi and Punjabi, as well as Hindu and Islamic devotional albums. He has released several Buddhist albums. Nigam has played in countries in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. In May-June 2007, he participated in the tour The Incredibles with Asha Bhosle, Kunal Ganjawala and Kailash Kher.

In September-October of the same year, he gave solo concerts entitled Simply Sonu in Canada and Germany, the first Indian singer to do so. In April 2008, he toured India to promote his punjabi single "Punjabi Please".

Nigam's first song in Kannada dates from 1996 for the movie Jeevanadhi. The song "Yello Yaro Hego" was composed by Saluri Koteswara Rao with the words of R. N. Jayagopal. Nigam has since sung more than 600 Kannada songs. He is known as the golden singer of Karnataka.

His songs include "Shelve Yeke Band", from the film Majnu, composed by Gurukiran; "Titanic Heroine Nee Nanna Cheluve", from the movie Snehaloka; the title track of the film Monalisa composed by Valisha Sandeep; "Hamsave Hamsave" from the film Gatti Mela, composed by Hamsalekha, "Kannale Kannale" from the film Aham Premasmi, composed by V.Ravichandran  and "Baaninda Baa Chandira" from Kanti, composed by Gurukiran, caused a sensation in 2006 and gave birth to several records, mainly in Karnataka.

Nigam's acting career began as a child in films, including Betaab . As an adult, he has appeared in such films as Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Kash Aap Hamare Hote and Love in Nepal. He was signed to be at Ankhon Ankhon Mein, about a blind singer.
