|Jai Kishan Kakubhai "Jackie" Shroff is an Indian actor. He has been in the Hindi cinema industry for nearly four decades and from 2017 has appeared in more than 220 films in eleven languages.
Shroff was born Jai Krishan Kakubhai Shroff in Udgir, Bombay State, India. His father, Kakulal Harilal Shroff, was a Gujarati Hindu and his mother, Amrita Kakulal Shroff , was a Uyghur from Kazakhstan . In a 2017 interview with Rajya Sabha TV, Shroff described the circumstances in which his parents came to Mumbai. In the early 1900s, her grandmother, a Uyghur of Xinjiang, fled to Ladakh as a refugee with her seven daughters in a coup in their home country. They made their living selling rice pearls , a Uyghur meal from Yarkand, and were still traveling. So they migrated to Lahore, from there to Delhi, and finally to Bombay. In Bombay, Shroff's mother met her father, who was an astrologer for Dhirubhai Ambani and Nattulal Ambani.

|Shroff dropped out of school after his eleventh level because he did not have a lot of money. He began working as a travel agent at a local company called "Trade Wings" near the Jehangir Art Gallery. An accountant from the advertising agency spotted him at the bus stop and asked him if he would be interested in modeling.
The next day, Shroff went to the advertising agency located in the same building as Davar College near the Flora Fountain for the photo shoot during his lunch. This photo shoot for an appropriate shirting Shroff launched on his modeling path. In 1982, Shroff made his acting debut in Dev Anand's film Swami Dada. In 1983, Subhash Ghai gave him the lead role in the film Hero, paired with Meenakshi Seshadri. The film was a success.
In the 90s, he was part of blockbuster films such as Saudagar, Angaar, Gardish, Khalnayak, 1942: A Love Story, Rangeela, Agnisakshi and Border.
Shroff married his longtime friend Ayesha Dutt, a model who will later become a film producer on June 5, 1987, on the occasion of her birthday. The couple runs a media company, Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited. They jointly owned 10% of Sony TV's shares since its launch until 2012, when they sold their stake and terminated their 15-year partnership with Sony TV. They have two children, a son, a Bollywood actor, Tiger Shroff and a daughter, Krishna.
