An ethnic Sindhi, Girish was signed in the Bollywood love film Ramaiya Vastavaiya, directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by his father Kumar S. Taurani, who is the general manager of Tips Industries Limited. In this film, he played the role of Ram, a stranger who was very rich, his role showed how his character is agile and open. Prabhu Deva trained Girish for three and a half years before filming. To launch Girish, Prabhu Deva was signed almost three years ago.
Prabhu Deva decided to have an audition for him. As a result, Girish had to perform on some scenes and also a dance number. Prabhu liked his performance and thought that Girish had an X factor; he only needed to polish some asperities and become more spontaneous. He told his parents to give him a dance class and later he selected some 25 songs and gave them to Girish for him to practice. He also named some choreographers who worked daily with Girish to prepare him for all the dance formats required for the films.
Girish was also overweight and had to do weight training during his three years of training. A coach from South Africa was brought on board to check Girish's fitness. This is one of his biggest successes that he developed six pack abs in 3 weeks. As for his appearance in Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Prabhu Deva would have been happy and satisfied.
For Girish's first appearance at Ramaiya Vastavaiya, director Prabhu Deva and cinematographer Kiran Deohans projected a special introductory scene that is completely new to Bollywood. In marking his first appearance on the big screen, Girish has made a daring diabolical surf sequence that has not been attempted in movies so far. International surf expert, Christopher Bryan, from Hawaii, USA, was in charge of the underwater footage with Girish, which was shot in Australia. Girish was trained at Mantra Surf Club near for this.
Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama commented on his performance: "Girish being a beginner, there are some asperities, but the fact is, he is photogenic and goes through the rigmarole with confidence." Sarit Ray of Hindustan Times gave a "His dance, unfortunately, is only slightly less rigid than his game" The film received little praise from critics and underperformed at the box office.
