|Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan Pillai (born October 27, 1967), better known by his stage name Dileep, is an Indian film actor, mimicry, producer, assistant director and businessman.
Dileep began his film career as an assistant director in Kamal's 1991 film, Vishnulokam. He achieved popularity through his acts of mimicry in stage performances and Comicola, a comedy television series broadcast on Asianet.
He made his acting debut in a small role in the 1992 film by Kamal Ennodu Ishtam Koodamo. His role as Dileep in the 1994 film Manathe Kottaram paved the way for his acting career.

Dileep was born Gopalakrishnan as the eldest of the three children at Padmanabhan Pillai and Sarojam on October 27, 1967 in Edavanakad, Ernakulam District, Kerala
He has a younger brother, Anoop and a younger sister, Sabitha.
He studied at VVBHS High School, where he passed the 10th standard in 1985, and joined Union Christian College, Aluva (pre-graduate, 3rd group, 1985-1987) and pursued a degree in history from Ernakulam Maharaja College. Dileep began to take seriously at Maharaja.
Dileep has made his voice in Onam's comic albums "De Maveli Kombathu" with his friends Nadirshah and Abi.
Dileep began his career in Kalabhavan, working as a mimic artist. He has also appeared in the Comicola show of Asianet. Later, he had the opportunity to be the deputy director of Kamal. As an assistant director, Dileep played in a few small roles, starting with a small scene in Kamal's Ennodu Ishtam Koodamo (1992). Kamal has recommended his name to many directors.
