| Anupam Kher is an Indian actor and current president of the Film and Television Institute of India. He has received two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. He has appeared in more than 500 films in multiple languages and many plays] He won the Best Actor Filmfare Award for his performance at Saaransh. He holds the record of having won the Filmfare Award for best actor for five times for: Ram Lakhan, Lamhe, Khel, Darr and Dilwale Dulhaniya The Jayenge. He has twice won the National Film Award for special mention for his performances in Daddy and Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara. For his performance in the movie Vijay, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Kher was born on March 7, 1955 in Shimla, in a Pandit Kashmiri family. His father was an employee and he had a modest education. He received an education at D.A.V. School in Shimla. In his tough days as an actor in Mumbai, he slept on the railroad platforms. He is a former and former president of the National Theater School. Some of his leading roles have been in plays performed at the University of Himachal Pradesh. |

| Kher made his acting debut in the 1982 Hindi film Aagman. Then in 1984 came the Saaransh, where Kher, 28, played a retired middle class Maharashtrian who lost his son. He has hosted television shows such as Say Na Some Anupam Uncle, Sawaal Dus Crore Ka, Lead India and the recent Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai, which became a big hit on his first episode when Shah Rukh Khan was invited as his guest. He had many comic roles, but also played the villain as his acclaimed role as the terrorist Dr. Dang in Karma . For his role in Daddy , he received the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.Anupam with his wife Kirron, December 2014He has played alongside film superstar Hindi Shahrukh Khan several times in such films as Darr He ventured into directing with Om Jai Jagadish and was a producer. Until recently, he was president of the Indian Film Censor Board. He is a former student of the National Theater School and was its director between 2001 and 2004. In 2007, Anupam Kher, along with his NSD colleague, Satish Kaushik, created a film production company, Karol Bagh Productions. Their first film, Tere Sang, was directed by Satish Kaushik. |
