Bachchan was quickly discovered by the screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, composed of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. Salim Khan wrote Zanjeer's story, screenplay and screenplay, and designed the character of "angry young man" in the lead role. Javed Akhtar came as a co-author, and Prakash Mehra, who saw the potentially revolutionary script, as director of the film. Salim Khan introduced Bachchan to Prakash Mehra, and Salim-Javed insisted that Bachchan be chosen for this role
Zanjeer was a crime movie with violent action, in stark contrast to the fictional-themed movies that had usually preceded him, and he established Amitabh in a new character - the "angry young man" of Bollywood cinema.
