Zafar began his career as a draftsman at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore and then began to play in television series. He made his debut as a television actor playing in dramatic dramas Kollege Jeans, Kanch Ke Par and Landa Bazar.

In the tenth season of Coke Studio Pakistan, Zafar played four songs, having been featured in the promo song "Qaumi Taranah".
