Gollapudi Maruti Rao is an Indian film actor, theater actor, screenwriter, playwright, playwright and dialogue writer known for his works in telugu cinema, Telugu theater and Telugu literature. He has starred in more than 230 Telugu movies. His famous literary works and plays, such as Rendu Rellu Aaru, Patita, Karuninchani Devatalu, Mahanatudu, Kaalam Venakku Tirigindi and Aasayaalaku Sankellu, have won numerous state awards.
He was a member of the Screenwriting Committee of the National Film Development Corporation and was a member of the jury of the Indian Film Festival of India for the Indian Panorama section in 1996. He is known for scripting such films as Chakravarthy, Tharangini, Samsaram Chadharangam, Kallu etc. He has received six Nandi Prizes from the State of Andhra Pradesh. In 1997, he founded the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation, which awards the Gollapudi National Award for Best Director's First Film to Indian Cinema.
Rao was also known for his work in All India Radio and Journalism, for more than two decades. His play has been included in the Osmania University Master of Arts (Telugu Literature) program. This work has been translated into all Indian languages by the National Book Trust as part of the Aadaan Pradaan program. The work was remade in a Telugu film in 1988, which won the Nandi Prize for Best Story in 1989. His Kallu piece of 1975 was also remade in a film Telugu Kallu, which also received the Nandi Award for Best feature film. His play Oka Chettu - Rende Puvvulu was purchased by the Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for a popular exhibition.
A volume of essays on theater, Telugu Nataka Rangam, was prescribed as a manual for the Department of Theater Arts, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam (1967). He published two research papers published in the 11th volume of Andhra Vignana Sarvaswam (Telugu Encyclopedia): "History of the Development of the" Thought "and the" Technique "of Telugu Writing" and "Theater Amateur" its origin and its growth compared to World Amateur Theater Movement. His first telugu, Telugu, Vandemaataram, was published by the Information and Public Relations Department of Andhra Pradesh State (1963).
Maruti Rao was born in a Telugu-speaking family on 14 April 1939 in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, India. He graduated from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in 1959, specializing in Mathematical Physics.
