About Shankar Mahadevan Career

After working for Leading Edge Systems (now Trigyn Technologies Limited), Mahadevan ventured into music. [4] Mahadevan was famous for the release of his first album (Breathless) in 1998. The title track of the album was designed to seem to be sung with a breath, hence its title. Later, he ventured into the direction of music and became a part of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy Trio, composed for Hindi movies.

He received his first prize as a singer in a Tamil film, in collaboration with AR Rahman and winning a national film award for Kandukondain Kandukondain. He was well known in the film industry of Kodambakkam and worked with several great composers including Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, Deva, Yuvan Shankar Raja (for whom he sang the maximum number of songs in Tamil), Harris Jayaraj, Vidyasagar , Mani Sharma, Devi Sri Prasad, GV Prakash Kumar, Vijay Antony, D. Imman, S. Thaman, Anirudh Ravichander and others. He also made a special appearance in the visualization of the song "Thaniye" by Rhythm, which was sung by himself. Mahadevan also sang for Remember Shakti, with Zakir Hussain, Chandan Sharma, John McLaughlin, U. Srinivas and V. Selvaganesh. He was music director for School Chale Hum on Doordarshan and mentor on the reality show of Zee TV's music Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009.

Mahadevan is a team captain, judge and mentor on the music show Star Plus Music Ka Maha Muqqabla for the Shankar's Rockstars team, which won the Ka Maha Muqqabala 2010 music.
