About Shankar Mahadevan Career



After working for Leading Edge Systems (now Trigyn Technologies Limited), Mahadevan ventured into music. [4] Mahadevan was famous for the release of his first album (Breathless) in 1998. The title track of the album was designed to seem to be sung with a breath, hence its title. Later, he ventured into the direction of music and became a part of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy Trio, composed for Hindi movies.

He received his first prize as a singer in a Tamil film, in collaboration with AR Rahman and winning a national film award for Kandukondain Kandukondain. He was well known in the film industry of Kodambakkam and worked with several great composers including Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, Deva, Yuvan Shankar Raja (for whom he sang the maximum number of songs in Tamil), Harris Jayaraj, Vidyasagar , Mani Sharma, Devi Sri Prasad, GV Prakash Kumar, Vijay Antony, D. Imman, S. Thaman, Anirudh Ravichander and others. He also made a special appearance in the visualization of the song "Thaniye" by Rhythm, which was sung by himself. [Citation needed] In addition, Mahadevan sang for every major hero of Tamil cinema, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, although he is best known for the many songs he has delivered for contemporary stars Ajith Kumar and Vijay. Mahadevan has sung in numerous films for A. R. Rahman, Anu Malik and other music directors; His songs include "Urvashi Take It Easy" by Humse Hai Muqabla (1995), "I Love You" by Auzaar (1997) and "Kay Sera Sera" by Pukar (2000). He composed most of his Hindi songs (as part of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) and sang Tamil songs by a number of composers. [Need] Mahadevan also sang in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi (for composers including Shridhar Phadke Kaushal Inamdar and Ajay-Atul) and other regional languages. He was part of the silk fusion group Silk, with Louis Banks on keyboards, Sivamani in percussion, Sridhar Parthasarathy on mridangam and Karl Peters on bass.

Mahadevan also sang for Remember Shakti, with Zakir Hussain, Chandan Sharma, John McLaughlin, U. Srinivas and V. Selvaganesh. He was music director for School Chale Hum on Doordarshan and mentor on the reality show of Zee TV's music Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009.

Mahadevan is a team captain, judge and mentor on the music show Star Plus Music Ka Maha Muqqabla for the Shankar's Rockstars team, which won the Ka Maha Muqqabala 2010 music. [Citation needed] In 2008 and 2010 , He starred at PULSE, the second largest Indian Intercollegiate festival, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. In March 2009, Mahadevan played at Ragam 09, an intercollegiate cultural festival organized by the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NITC) in Kerala. In March 2011, Mahadevan founded the Shankar Mahadevan Academy with Sridhar Ranganathan, his classmate and his friend from his college. The Academy offers tutorial and virtual tutorials with live teachers for vocal courses in classical music Carnatic and Hindustani, religious songs, Indian folk music, indie music [5] and Bollywood songs.

He was invited by UNESCO and the United States Department of State to attend the United Nations General Assembly Hall for the final of the International Jazz Festival on April 30, 2012. [more] Mahadevan is A mentor of the reality show music of the TV Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012.

In 2013, the singer, Ehsaan and Loy performed a well-received five-hour concert for Lok Biradari Prakalp in Nagpur.
