Biography & Biodata

Arunoday Singh (born February 17, 1983) is an Indian film actor. His first film was Sikandar (2009). Singh appeared in Sudhir Mishra's Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), Pooja Bhatt's Jism 2 (2012), and most recently in David Dhawan's Main Tera Hero (2014) and Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro (2016). He was also the protagonist of Vivek Agnihotri's controversial film Buddha in a Traffic Jam (2016), dealing with the issue of naxalism.

Early and personal life

Arunoday was born on February 17, 1983 in Churhat, Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, India. He is the grandson of Arjun Singh, an Indian politician who was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
He is a former student of Brandeis University, having already been educated in a boarding school in Kodaikanal, where he played in plays. According to him, it was after seeing the actor Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront (1954) that he decided to become an actor. After graduation, he took a few courses at the New York Film Academy and then enrolled at Studio Acting in New York, during the period when he also played in plays.


After completing his studies, he began giving auditions, and finally debuted with Sikandar (2009), directed by Piyush Jha, playing a Kashmiri freedom fighter. His second film was Aisha (2010), the production of Anil Kapoor, an adaptation of the novel, Emma de Jane Austen, with Sonam Kapoor Also in the same year, he appears in Vinay Shukla's film about gender and sexuality in Mirch, through a collage of five stories, with Raima Sen and Konkana Sharma, where he plays the central role of a director in difficulty . On December 13, 2016, he made the connection with Lee Elton, whom he met three years ago in Goa. Lee has a coffee shop in Goa.

In 2011, he worked with Irrfan Khan and Aditi Rao Hydari, another newcomer to Yeh Saali Zindagi from Sudhir Mishra (2011). His performance earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a role supporting the 18th Screen Awards. He then appeared in Jism 2 against Sunny Leone and Randeep Hooda. In 2014, he appeared in David Dhawan's comedy film, Main Tera Hero, opposite Varun Dhawan, Ileana D'Cruz and Nargis Fakhri; and the supernatural suspense movie Pizza. His next outing was Mr. X as Dr. Steve Rhodes against Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur. In 2016, Singh appeared in Ashutosh Gowariker's epic adventure film Mohenjo Daro, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde.
