Arjun Rampal (born November 26, 1972) is an Indian actor, producer, model and television personality. He made his acting debut in the romance of Rajiv Rai Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001). Rampal was appreciated for his performance and received several awards for his work in the film, including a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best First Male.
He followed with a series of flops as lead actor in the early part of his career, with love films Deewaanapan (2001), Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), Dil Ka Rishta (2003) and Vaada (2005). He had a turnaround as an actor in such films as Don (2006), The Last Lear (2007), Om Shanti Om (2007), Housefull (2010), Inkaar (2013) and Roy (2015) (thrillers action) and D-Day (2013), Chakravyuh (2012) (socio-political). His work has been critically acclaimed in all these films. His latest release Rock On 2 (2016) was hard hit by demonetization and did not work well, but Rampal's work was appreciated by both the public and critics alike. His next release was Kahaani on December 2, 2016, the film worked well at the box office and the work of Arjun Rampal is considered his best moment.
Rampal got his breakthrough in Don (2006). He has so far achieved commercial success in such films as Aankhen (2002), Om Shanti Om (2007), Rock On !! (2008), Housefull (2010) and Ra.One (2011) which earned him many accolades.
Rampal has received numerous awards and nominations. He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Best Supporting Actor Filmfare Award for his performance in Rock On
Rampal has created its production company Chasing Ganesha Films. He became a film producer with I See You (2006) under his banner and starred. His next project as a producer is a film based on the gangster turned politician Arun Gawli. Entitled Daddy, it was released on September 08, 2017
Early and personal life
Rampal was born on November 26, 1972 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, to a family of military origin. His maternal grandfather, Brigadier Gurdayal Singh, designed the first artillery gun for the Indian army after independence His paternal family is Hindu Punjabi, while his maternal grandfather was Sikh and his maternal grandmother was Dutch. He stayed with his mother after separation from his parents and attended St. Patrick's School (Devlali, Nashik) where his mother worked as a teacher. He then went to the prestigious Kodaikanal International School. He graduated in economics with honors from the prestigious Hindu College of Delhi University. He became the Indian model. He married Mehr Jesia in 1998 and has two daughters, Mahikaa (born in 2002) and Myra.
Rampal made his acting debut in Rajiv Rai's Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001) opposite Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani and Kirti Reddy. Rampal gave a flying performance and attracted all the attention. Talan Adarsh from indiaFM wrote: "Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat is a showcase for Arjun Rampal to show off his talent, the guy looks frisky and emotes with the utmost sincerity, which is so rare for a beginner , a start of confidence! "Rampal has been recognized as a leading player in the Indian film industry, and has been nominated for the Best Men's Filmfare Award, but has swapped the awards in the Best Male First category. His next outing was Deewaanapan from Ashu Trikha, in which Rampal was paired with Dia Mirza. He was critically acclaimed for his performance, but the film collapsed at the box office.  Taran Adarsh of IndiaFM wrote: "Arjun Rampal wears the film on his broad shoulders and offers a sincere and consistent performance throughout.It is wonderful in action sequences and arouses a pleasant surprise in moments of emotion by delivering the appropriate expressions. " Ashish Magotra of Rediff gave negative reviews on Rampal, writing: "Among the actors, Arjun Rampal as a hero does pretty much what he's been known to do, he models, his acting abilities leave a lot to be desired. " of the year was Moksha from Ashok Mehta. It was actually his first film, but was released after Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat. Rampal was paired with famous actress Manisha Koirala in a leading role in Moksha. This film marked Rampal's third consecutive flop at the box office, but Rampal was critically acclaimed. Taran Adarsh of IndiaFM wrote: "Arjun Rampal excels in a difficult role to interpret: he takes great strides as an interpreter and proves he is an actor with an incredible range." Rediff's Priyanka Bhattacharya viewed the film as "more a 70-mm portfolio for Arjun Rampal than a story".

The first release of Rampal in 2002 was Aankhen's Vipul Amrutlal Shah, in which Rampal played in a casting with Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen, Paresh Rawal and Aditya Pancholi. He played the role of a blind person. The film was rated above the box office average and became the fourth-largest Bollywood film of 2002.  His next release was Kundan Shah's Dil Hai Tumhaara opposite Rekha, Preity Zinta, Mahima Chaudhry and Jimmy Shergill. The film was a flop.
In 2003, Rampal played a leading role in Nilesh Malhotra's Dil Ka Rishta vis-à-vis Aishwarya Rai. Rampal has been critically acclaimed for his performance. Ronjita Kulkarni of Rediff wrote: "Arjun Rampal shakes his wood image and gets a good performance, he is subtle and convincing in the emotional scenes, he certainly surpassed Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat." the thirtieth film of the year based on box office revenues. Rampal's next role was in Khalid Mohammed's Tehzeeb vis-à-vis Urmila Matondkar. Rampal played a Muslim in the movie. The film has been critically acclaimed Taran Adarsh praised his performance, citing: "the relaxed attitude that reflects his character injects a certain brilliance to the company".
In 2004, Rampal collaborated with Rajiv Rai for the second time in his first Asambhav action thriller. Rampal played alongside Priyanka Chopra and played the role of an Indian commando, Captain Aadit Arya. The film was shot entirely in Switzerland. Released on July 23, Asambhav was the only Rampal release of the year. Shahid Khan of Planet Bollywood wrote: "Arjun Rampal looks good and fits the action hero's mold very well."
The first release of Rampal in 2005 was that of Satada by Satish Kaushik, in which he played a leading role against Ameesha Patel and Zayed Khan. The film was a flop. Rediff's Patcy N praised Rampal, writing, "Arjun Rampal did a good job, his performance is moderate and the model turned actor is superb in most scenes." The next Vikram Bhatt movie, Elaan. The film managed to do well and became a mean-grosser at the box office. Rampal has been critically acclaimed for his performance at Elaan. IANS 'Subhash K. Jha praised Rampal and wrote: "Arjun is almost alone, playing a man again with responsibilities he brings a controlled conviction to his two scenes with his screen girl and his captivating death scene . " Merril Diniz of Rediff wrote: "Arjun Rampal is almost credible as a fallen ex-cop, he has a deep baritone and slender body language.
