Pasupuleti Vamsi Krishna, known as Krishna Vamsi, is an Indian film director, producer and choreographer known for his work in Telugu cinema. Vamsi made his directorial debut with the 1995 crime film, Gulabi, with J. D. Chakravarthi. He received two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and three Nandi Awards. Before his directorial debut with Gulabi, he worked as assistant director of Ram Gopal Varma.

In 1996, he directed the film Ninne Pelladata, one of the highest Telugu films of the time. He then directed the critically acclaimed crime film, Sindhooram under his production house Andhra Talkies; Both films won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film from Telugu. In 2002, he ventured into Bollywood with Shakti: The Power, a remake of his own classic Telugu cult, Antahpuram.

Private life

Krishna Vamsi is married to Ramya Krishnan, a South Indian actress. Ramya Krishnan played in two of her films, Sri Anjaneyam (in a guest role) and Chandralekha, before the wedding. Krishna Vamsi is known for being a fan of Sitarama Sastry. The films for which Sitarama Sastry wrote lyrics, directed by Krishna Vamsi, include Ninne Pelladatha, Gulabi, Sindhooram, Chandralekha, Murari, Khadgam, Chakram, Mahatma and Paisa. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry adopted Krishna Vamsi, not legally by the Indian Government Gazette, but by the traditional Hindu method.

Career

Krishna Vamsi began his career at Tripuraneni Varaprasad also known as Chitti before working briefly with Ram Gopal Varma. In 2007, Vamsi led Chandamama. His next project was the 2009 film Sasirekha Parinayam, followed by Mahatma the same year, which was Srikanth's 100th film.

He then headed Mogudu (2011) with Gopichand, Taapsee Pannu and Shraddha Das in lead roles with Gadde Rajendra Prasad, Roja and Naresh in supporting roles.
